We are excited to announce that Dr. Emma Gibbin-Lameira, Scientific Communications Manager, Fabric and Home Care at P&G, has joined the advisory board for Cleaning Products Europe 2026.
We caught up with Emma to explore what makes this conference unique and what contributions are planned for the upcoming event taking place on 24-25 March...
Welcome to the advisory board! P&G has supported the Cleaning Products Europe conference for many years. What motivated you to join the advisory board this year, and what do you hope to contribute?
Thank you for the warm welcome! I’m honoured to join the advisory board, following the impactful contributions of my colleague Mark Stalmans over the years. I am aware that I have big boots to fill and will do my best to replicate his contribution. My motivation for joining stems from a desire to drive positive change in society; I believe scientific conferences are vital for sharing innovative ideas and fostering collaboration across industries.
The Cleaning Products Europe conference is known for fostering real dialogue across the value chain. In your view, what makes this event stand out compared to larger, more commercial industry gatherings?
In my opinion, smaller, more technical events like the Cleaning Products Europe conference bring together the right people to collaboratively explore challenges, share best practices, and develop actionable strategies that can benefit the entire industry. A more intimate setting allows for discussions that are not always possible in larger, more commercial gatherings.
You and your team delivered a great session on dishwashing last year. How important do you think it is for industry players to share research and case studies in an open, cross-sector environment like this?
Yes, it was a great experience! The organizers were supportive and the audience was engaging, I thoroughly enjoyed my first Cleaning Product Europe conference. I believe that sharing research and case studies (in a legally compliant way of course) is essential. Open dialogue on complex topics like sustainability is crucial; healthy debate can reveal "third options" we may not have considered. I hope to bring that same spirit of collaboration and dialogue to this year’s conference.
Finally, on a more personal note — you have an incredible background in marine biology and scientific communication. How has that journey shaped your approach to science, sustainability, and collaboration within the cleaning products industry?
Thank you! While my career path may not be traditional, I believe this diversity enriches my perspective. My background in marine biology has given me a deep understanding of environmental challenges. Studying coral bleaching and its devastating impacts reinforced the urgent need for change. I firmly believe that data and science are essential for achieving a sustainable future. I pride myself on my ability to simplify complex messages and I hope to bring that clarity to the cleaning products industry.
